Who we are

Chromologica was founded in 1991, our mission is ethical pharmaceutical research and development.

What we do

Our first decade was spent in bio-genetic research and development, specialising in analysing and extracting cures from rare plants.

In 2001 we launched our product development arm. Products currently in development include possible therapies for kidney cancer and Turner syndrome.

Where are we active?

Our research team is currently investigating flora and fauna across three continents - Asia, Africa and South America - and we have bio-prospecting agreements with over fifteen countries.

In December 2008, we signed a new profit-sharing agreement with Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador, allowing us access to hundreds of thousands of acres of bio-diverse rainforest.

Why we matter?

According to the World Health Organization, nearly 70 percent of the Earth's 6.2 billion people rely on plant-based traditional medicine to relieve pain, to heal wounds, and to prevent or cure disease.

Tropical rain forests, containing half of the world's flowering plant species, are the source of forty-seven commercial drugs, including vincristine (Oncovin), vinblastine (Velban), codeine and quinine. Vincristine is the drug of choice for the treatment of childhood leukemia; vinblastine is used for the treatment of Hodgkin's disease.

Chromologica takes an ethnobotanical approach to our research, working with local tribes and native healers to help discover and develop more life-saving medicines lying undiscovered in the world's rainforests.

What we stand for

Chromologica stands for research, knowledge, transparency, cooperation and fair distribution of profits. Find out more about our commitment to CSR in Responsibility.
